Cleaning instructions

Cleaning guidelines for Kadova Cheese Moulds (and nets / liners).

Recommended cleaning agents:

– K500
– Safeclean VK2 from Johnson Diversey and
– P3 mip RM from Henkel Ecolab

These products are based on caustic soda. Use solutions in accordance with the suppliers’ instructions.

Application: immersion tank.
The maximum cleaning temperature for moulds and lids is 80°C.
The maximum cleaning temperature for the nets is 55°C.


Daily cleaning:

Keep moulds and lids submersed in K500 overnight. A caustic soda solution may be
used instead of K500. Always rinse well with sufficient tap water.
Adding pressurized air can enhance K500’s effectiveness, because this produces
turbulence that has a positive influence on the cleaning result. It also means that the
submersion time can be shortened.
The submersion time for the nets / liners depends on the degree of contamination, but if
the temperature is not too high [MAX. 55°C] the nets can remain submersed for quite
some time. Rinse well with tap water. Briefly take through a mild chlorine solution to
disinfect the nets.


Monthly cleaning of scale.

If after a while the moulds and lids become contaminated with lime scale this can be
removed by submersing the moulds and lids in a mild nitrous acid solution. Depending
on the usage this should happen approximately once a month. The submersion time
depends on the amount of lime scale, and the temperature should be MAX 55°C. Rinse
well with tap water, followed by rinsing in a mild alkali caustic soda solution / in K500.
Again followed by rinsing well with tap water.


Long term storage of nets (and moulds).

If the nets have been cleaned and rinsed well, store in a dry and hygienic area. Do not
expose to sunlight. The alternative is to store the nets in an extremely mild caustic soda
solution, but not exposed to sunlight.


The following products are not recommended for cleaning the linings.

Peracetic acid, Hydrogen peroxide, Higher concentrations of chlorine solutions.
The nets may be disinfected in a mild chlorine solution, but only for a very short period.
Longer periods are not recommended, because chlorine causes oxidation at molecular
level, which means the tensile strength of the net material is weakened, and this causes
the net to tear faster.


Exposure to sunlight.

Long term storage with exposure to sunlight is not recommended as the UV rays make
the net material brittle, and the net may tear faster than normal.
